If macOS says the app “is damaged and can’t be opened,” first try right-clicking (or Control-clicking) the app in Applications and choosing Open, then clicking Open in the dialog. After the first time, it opens normally.
On macOS Sonoma (14) and later, the right-click trick may no longer work. If you still see the “damaged” message, open Terminal and run:
sudo xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/GridLock Desktop.app"
This removes the quarantine flag macOS applies to downloads, allowing the app to open normally. The app itself is not damaged — macOS Gatekeeper simply doesn’t recognize our developer signature yet.
If the app launches but can’t connect to anything (sign-in fails with a network error, even though your browser works), clearing quarantine can leave the app’s signature invalidated. Re-sign it ad-hoc in Terminal:
codesign --force --deep --sign - "/Applications/GridLock Desktop.app"
You should only need to do this once per install. We’re working on full Apple Developer ID signing so neither of these steps will be needed in a future release.
